Historic Slice of Queen Elizabeth II’s Wedding Cake Fetches £2,200 at Auction
A rare slice of wedding cake from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s 1947 wedding has sold for £2,200 at auction. The slice, found in Scotland after 77 years, was originally a gift from the newlyweds to Marion Polson, a housekeeper at The Palace of Holyroodhouse. It was preserved in its original presentation box and accompanied by a personal letter from the Queen. Auctioneer James Grinter noted its uniqueness, stating it’s the first complete piece of its kind sold. The luxurious, four-tier cake was famously created during a time of rationing and gifted to 2,000 wedding guests.
