Germany Strengthens Infrastructure Resilience with New Law
Germany’s cabinet has approved a new law aimed at safeguarding critical infrastructure against risks such as sabotage, terrorism, and natural disasters. The ‘Kritis-Dachgesetz’ establishes uniform national regulations for sectors including energy and transportation, mandating operators to create comprehensive security plans. Interior Minister Nancy Faeser highlighted the need for enhanced protection against crises, as a staggering 86% of critical infrastructure companies faced attacks last year. While the Green Party supports the initiative, they call for improvements to ensure effective protection measures. The law is set to implement an EU directive and could take effect by mid-2025.
