Greek Government Defends Minimum Wage Increase Amid Opposition Claims
The Greek Ministry of Labor responded to the recent proposal by PASOK – Movement for Change regarding the minimum wage, asserting that the current government’s strategy has effectively raised the minimum salary from €650 in 2019 to a planned €950 by 2027. They emphasized that significant increases can be negotiated between employers and employees, noting that 22 of the 27 EU countries have legislated minimum wages. The government aims to enhance collective bargaining frameworks and invites PASOK to contribute meaningful proposals.
