Owner Sentenced After Dogs Fatally Attack Woman in Greece
A 38-year-old man was sentenced to five years in prison with a suspended effect by the Mixed Jury Court of Veria, following the fatal mauling of a woman by his three dogs in Thessaloniki. Initially charged with murder, the court reduced the charge to manslaughter due to negligence, citing the owner’s failure to maintain a secure enclosure. The man apologized during his testimony, defending his actions and expressing disbelief that his dogs could be so dangerous. He has been granted temporary release pending an appeal.
