Scottish Man Sentenced for Homemade Explosives Operation in Ireland

A 63-year-old Scottish man, Ivan Gilder, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for manufacturing dangerously explosive devices from household products in rural Co Kerry, Ireland. Gilder, who lived off-grid, was found to have created enough material for two car bombs. During a raid by the Garda Special Detective Unit, authorities uncovered a dangerous cache of explosives, firearms, and ammunition. Despite his guilty plea, the court noted Gilder’s lack of insight into the risks posed by his actions. His son has also faced charges related to the incident, receiving a suspended sentence.
