Green Party Unveils Bold Transport Plans Amid Election Campaign

As campaigning for the General Election intensifies, the Green Party is set to release its manifesto, promising a €10 billion investment in public transport. This plan includes funding for major projects like Metrolink and Dart+, leveraging €7 billion from Apple’s tax contributions. In addition to transport improvements, the party aims to introduce a ‘Climate Ticket’ for commuters, enhance rural services, and implement a State-led childcare system. Competing proposals from Fine Gael, Labour, and Sinn Féin are also emerging, focusing on inheritance tax, housing, and renewable energy investment.
