Greece Enacts Stricter Alcohol and Tobacco Laws for Minors
Greece’s Deputy Minister of Health, Dimitris Vartzopoulos, announced new measures aimed at combating alcohol and tobacco sales to minors. These include reclassifying the sale of alcohol to minors as a criminal offense, requiring sellers to verify age through identification, and imposing significant penalties on both sellers and businesses. Additionally, private events with minors must be reported to local police to enable preventive inspections. The enforcement of these regulations will now also fall under the purview of the Greek Police, enhancing the state’s ability to monitor compliance.
