Trump Appoints Elon Musk to Lead New Government Efficiency Initiative
President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Elon Musk, alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, to head the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aimed at streamlining federal agencies and cutting unnecessary expenditures. Trump likened the initiative to a modern-day Manhattan Project, promising disruptive changes to reduce bureaucracy in the U.S. government. While concerns over potential conflicts of interest arise due to Musk’s federal contracts, Trump envisions significant reforms to save up to $2 trillion. The initiative is expected to conclude by July 4, 2026, aligning with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
