Severe Flood Warnings Prompt Evacuations in Málaga, Spain
Heavy rainfall in Málaga has forced the evacuation of thousands as Spain’s meteorological agency issues the highest alerts for extreme weather. The Costa del Sol region faces significant flooding, particularly around the Guadalhorce River, with evacuations affecting about 3,000 residents. The storm system, known as a ‘Dana’, is anticipated to bring up to 180mm of rain in parts of northeastern Spain within 12 hours. Schools and businesses are closed, and precautionary measures are in place throughout southern and eastern Spain as the nation processes previous flood tragedies.
