Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis announced a new initiative to drastically reduce emergency room wait times by implementing smart electronic wristbands in public hospitals. Set to launch early next year, these wristbands will track patient information and wait times, allowing medical staff to monitor patients’ progress and expedite care. The initiative, inspired by successful implementations in the US and Israel, also includes support from the Greek Red Cross volunteers to guide and assist patients during their visits. Georgiadis has committed to improving conditions in emergency departments by spring 2024.
