Switzerland’s Foreign Ministry Cuts Business-Class Flights Amid Budget Cuts
In a bid to save costs, Switzerland’s Foreign Ministry has mandated Economy-Class travel for all employees, including ambassadors, on all flights, regardless of duration. This shift is expected to save approximately 1.5 million Swiss francs annually. While other ministries maintain Business-Class travel for long flights, Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis will travel Business-Class himself due to work requirements. The German Foreign Office has made similar adjustments, requiring its representatives to fly Economy-Class for long-haul journeys, also citing financial reasons.
