France Introduces New Agricultural Loan Measures to Combat Climate Challenges
The French Ministry of Agriculture announced two new loan programs aimed at supporting farmers facing economic challenges, including climate impacts. The first program offers medium-term loans up to €50,000 for those who experienced a revenue drop of at least 20% in 2024, with interest rates capped at 1.75% for two years. A second program focuses on long-term consolidation loans, capped at €200,000, intended for farmers with high debt levels. Major agricultural unions welcomed these measures but called for urgent implementation at the local level.
