Franziska Brantner and Felix Banaszak Elected as New Leaders of Germany’s Green Party

Franziska Brantner and Felix Banaszak have been elected as the new co-chairs of Germany’s Green Party during the party’s convention in Wiesbaden. Brantner, a close ally of Economy Minister Robert Habeck, secured 78% of the votes, while Banaszak received nearly 93%. Their election follows the resignation of the previous leadership amid recent electoral losses. Brantner has been a Bundestag member since 2013, representing Heidelberg, whereas Banaszak, a prominent figure on the party’s left, has served in the Bundestag since 2021.
