Ueli Bier Celebrates 50 Years Revolutionizing Swiss Brewing

Ueli Bier, founded by Hans Jakob Nidecker in 1974, celebrates its 50th anniversary as a pioneer of the Swiss craft beer movement. Initially defying a market dominated by major brewers through the beer cartel, Ueli’s homemade brews quickly gained popularity. The brewery introduced innovative beers like ‘Tut-Anch-Ueli,’ brewed from a 2000-year-old recipe. Following the dissolution of the cartel in 1992, Ueli faces increased competition from new local breweries. Despite this, Ueli’s current management remains committed to producing high-quality, regional beer tailored for Basel’s consumers.
