Alexandra Van Huffelen Elected D66 Chair Amid New University Role
Alexandra Van Huffelen has been elected as the new chair of the Dutch political party D66, receiving a majority vote from over 5,000 members. In addition to her new position, she has been appointed chair of the board at Radboud University in Nijmegen. Van Huffelen previously served as State Secretary for Finance from 2020 to 2022, focusing on benefits issues, and later as State Secretary for the Interior until 2024. Her extensive experience includes roles as director of Amsterdam’s public transport company GVB and as a member of the Senate for D66.
