In an effort to boost road safety, Athens will install 388 advanced cameras at key intersections to monitor red light violations 24/7. This initiative aims to significantly reduce traffic accidents by enforcing stricter adherence to traffic rules. Signed by Attica Regional Governor Nikos Hardalias, the cameras will be strategically placed in areas with high accident rates. The project, costing €17.5 million, ensures the protection of personal data, capturing only vehicle rear images. The initiative reflects a commitment to cultivating a safer driving culture in Athens and will operate independently, minimizing human intervention.
