Benin Hosts CARICOM Foreign Ministers to Strengthen Economic and Cultural Ties
On Wednesday, Benin welcomed foreign ministers from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to discuss enhancing economic, cultural, and security cooperation. The meeting addressed cultural connections, economic issues, and security concerns, particularly regarding Haiti, which is experiencing severe gang violence and political instability. Discussions included possible military support for Haiti, strengthening economic ties through mutual investments in tourism, agriculture, and industrialization, and promoting tourism to slave trade memorial sites. The ministers emphasized the importance of a unified voice in international forums, especially within the UN.
