Bhutan Plans Mindfulness City to Retain Young Talent
Bhutan is set to build a ‘Mindfulness City’ in the south to curb brain drain and attract young professionals back to the country. Designed by renowned architect Bjarke Ingels, the city will span 2,500 square kilometers, featuring sustainable infrastructure and diverse economic opportunities. Its aim is not only to create a hub for innovation but also to enhance the well-being of its residents, aligning with Bhutan’s focus on Gross National Happiness. With an estimated cost of $100 million, the project seeks to house 150,000 people within the first ten years, addressing high unemployment and population decline.
