Birmingham People Smuggler Convicted in £1.5 Million Immigration Operation
Pistiwan Jameel, a Birmingham resident, has been convicted for his role in a £1.5 million people smuggling operation, transporting migrants across the English Channel in small boats. Jameel, aged 54, referred to migrants derogatorily and coordinated with criminal gangs in France. He was arrested alongside Artan Halilaj, who was found guilty of facilitating illegal immigration. Surveillance revealed Jameel’s coordination activities, including a cash exchange with Halilaj before the illegal crossing. Jameel is scheduled for sentencing on December 3, alongside the other involved parties, as authorities emphasize the significant scale of his criminal enterprise.
