Boeing Workers End Seven-Week Strike with Major Pay Increase
After seven weeks, Boeing workers have accepted a new contract that will increase their wages by 38% over four years. The agreement also includes a one-time bonus of $12,000 and the reinstatement of previously eliminated bonuses. The strike, which began on September 13, disrupted production of key models like the 737 and 777, adding to Boeing’s ongoing crisis compounded by a series of safety issues. Despite the contract approval by 59% of the workers, Boeing has announced plans to cut about 10% of its workforce, affecting roughly 17,000 jobs.
