Celebrating Saint Leonard: Patron of the Imprisoned

Today, November 6, honors the memory of Saint Leonard, a Christian saint born on May 19, 496 AD. Initially a nobleman in the court of King Clovis I, he converted to Christianity and was baptized alongside the king on Christmas in 496. After retreating to Limoges, he founded a monastery and became known as the protector of prisoners, political detainees, and the vulnerable. Legend says that inmates who invoked his name witnessed miraculous breaks from their chains. Saint Leonard passed away in 559 AD, remembered for his spiritual dedication and philanthropic actions.
