Challenges for Floriade Expo: Developer Dispute and Future Plans Uncertain
The De Floriade Expo, held once a decade in the Netherlands, aimed to innovate by transforming its exhibition site into a residential neighborhood post-event. The Almere city council unanimously approved the project in 2012; however, conflicts with the developer, Weerwater CV, resulted in a split earlier this year. Almere has since repurchased the land, leaving the future of the residential plans in doubt. Weerwater CV has been invited to participate in an investigative committee but has declined to cooperate with public hearings.
