Chania Launches Waste Awareness Campaign During European Waste Reduction Week
The municipality of Chania is set to host awareness-raising activities from November 16 to 24 as part of the European Week for Waste Reduction. In collaboration with DEDISA, events aim to educate the public on the environmental impact of food waste and promote the principles of reduction, reuse, and recycling. Deputy Mayor Michalis Tsoupakis highlighted alarming statistics, noting that Greek households waste 930,000 tons of food annually, with the EU producing over 58 million tons of food waste in 2024. The campaign emphasizes the urgent need for better waste management practices.
