Mastic producers on Chios Island are currently engaged in the meticulous cleaning of harvested mastic through specialized facilities. Led by George Toubos, president of the Chios Mastic Producers Union, the process involves separating mastic from other materials efficiently. A proposal has been submitted for €3 million in funding to establish a mechanical cleaning unit, which aims to improve processing methods without water usage. Additionally, the Union anticipates starting the collection of mastic soon, while awaiting assessments of the damage caused by recent heavy rains.
