Christmas Tree Harvest Faces Climate Challenges in Chalkidiki

In Chalkidiki, Greece, producers are preparing to cut down Christmas trees amid concerns over drought and high temperatures impacting their yield. Veteran grower Georgios Malandris, who has been cultivating trees for over 30 years, is set to send the trees to market shortly. Many producers have resorted to using boreholes for irrigation due to the prolonged dry weather. Christmas tree prices will range from €40 to €100, consistent with last year’s levels, based on the height of the trees.
