Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners Launches Major Battery Storage Facility in South Lanarkshire

Construction is underway for one of Europe’s largest energy storage facilities at Coalburn, South Lanarkshire. The project, developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, consists of two massive battery farms capable of powering three million homes. Utilizing excess wind energy, the facility aims to support the UK’s clean power goals by 2030 and achieve net-zero carbon by 2050. With the first phase expected to be operational later this year, this initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance energy security and integrate renewable resources into the grid.
