Cretan Farmer Transforms Dreams into Reality with Carob Cultivation
Kostas Karatzis, a farmer from Melidochori in Crete, has turned his passion for carob trees into a successful venture, cultivating 10,000 trees in the mountainous region of Monofatsi. Inspired by a visit to the Cypriot pavilion at the Thessaloniki International Fair, he realized the potential of the carob tree. After 70 years of successful growth in Heraklion, Karatzis now champions carob as more than just a superfood, calling it a remedy based on his personal experience, despite the challenges faced in its cultivation.
