A court in Traunstein has sentenced a driver to 15 years in prison after a high-speed chase resulted in the deaths of seven migrants, including a six-year-old child. The incident occurred on October 13, 2023, when the driver, attempting to evade police, lost control of an overloaded van that rolled multiple times. Out of 22 passengers, 15 were injured seriously. The prosecution originally sought a life sentence for murder due to the reckless nature of the driver’s actions. Three accomplices, who allegedly helped warn the driver of police, are set to stand trial soon.
