Dublin Maternity Hospitals Pioneering Support for Domestic Abuse Victims
A groundbreaking pilot project in Dublin has supported 379 pregnant victims of domestic abuse at local maternity hospitals over three years, according to an evaluation report. The initiative, involving Women’s Aid and several major maternity hospitals, enhanced training for nearly 350 staff on coercive control and abuse recognition. Women’s Aid CEO Sarah Benson emphasized that routine healthcare visits provide critical opportunities for women to seek help discreetly. With the demand for support growing, experts stress that additional funding and resources are essential to continue and expand these vital services.
