Elderly Vulnerable Individuals Exploit Legal Powers of Attorney in Essex Law Firm Scandal
An investigation by the BBC has uncovered disturbing allegations against Ron Hiller, a partner at Craybeck Law in Essex, who allegedly exploited elderly and vulnerable clients by convincing them to grant him lasting power of attorney. Victims reported losing access to their finances, having properties sold at undervalued prices, and being pressured into giving Hiller control. The rise in lasting powers of attorney has raised concerns about oversight from the Office of the Public Guardian. Craybeck Law denies wrongdoing while Hiller has not responded to requests for comment.
