Elena Congost Awarded Financial Support After Paralympics Disqualification
Marathon runner Elena Congost, disqualified from the Paris Paralympics after finishing third due to a mishap with her guide, will receive a monthly financial assistance of €2,050 from the Spanish Paralympic committee. The decision follows her disqualification as she released the guiding cord to prevent her guide from falling. Although a request for an additional medal was denied, the committee continues to support her amid potential legal action to contest the ruling. The bronze medal was awarded to Japan’s Misato Michishita, who finished significantly later.
