Manfred Weber, President of the European People’s Party, condemned the verbal and physical attack on Greek MEP Freddy Belérris during an official EU-Albania parliamentary mission on October 29. In a letter to Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Weber criticized the lack of state protection for Belérris, noting that adequate security measures could have prevented the incident. He highlighted the attack as a failure of Albania to ensure the safety of EU representatives and urged the government to uphold its international obligations in line with the country’s EU accession path.
