Firefighters Battle Crop Fires in Serres, Greece
In Serres, Greece, firefighters are combating crop residue fires that broke out around noon in the Anagenisi area. A total of 20 firefighters led by Deputy Chief Pantelis Eleftheriadis, along with five fire engines and municipal water trucks, mobilized to contain the flames. The fire spread to approximately 1,000 acres, with new hotspots emerging during the operation. Fortunately, the firefighters managed to prevent damage to nearby facilities. As the fire season has been extended until November 15, the use of fire remains prohibited in Central Macedonia and other parts of Greece.
