Firefighters Face Violence Amid Bonfire Night Chaos
On Bonfire Night, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received over 1,000 emergency calls, with reports of crews being attacked with missiles and fireworks. Several incidents were recorded in Clydebank, Edinburgh, and Blackridge. Despite a decrease in serious disorder, police had to confront large groups of youths throwing projectiles at emergency responders. Deputy Chief Officer Andy Watt condemned the assaults as unacceptable, emphasizing that they originated from a small minority. Control zones limiting firework use are now in effect until November 10 in response to the unrest. Authorities continue to investigate the violence.
