The Flame Lighting Ceremony for the 41st Authentic Athens Marathon took place at the Marathon Tomb, leading into the nation’s premier running event. Following speeches, an artistic performance directed by Nicos Gesoulis paid homage to the Battle of Marathon. The flame will travel to the historic marathon starting point after a brief relay stop at the statue of Grigoris Lambrakis. On race day, approximately 20,000 runners will participate in this symbolic event, celebrating both athletic and historical significance.
