France Poised to Achieve Record Electricity Exports Amid Low Winter Supply Risks
France’s electric grid manager, RTE, announced that the risk of blackouts this winter is minimal, estimating a supply risk level of just 1 out of 5. As the country prepares to possibly exceed its record for net electricity exports, anticipated to reach 85 TWh by December, the competitive low-carbon production (nuclear and renewables) is highlighted as a significant contributor to its commercial balance. RTE also noted that while electricity consumption has stabilized, it may gradually rise in the upcoming years, contrasting the significant drops seen previously due to high energy prices.
