Germany’s Nursing Insurance Contribution Set to Rise in 2025 Amid Financial Concerns
Starting January 2025, Germany will increase the nursing insurance contribution by 0.2 percentage points as proposed by Health Minister Karl Lauterbach. This measure aims to prevent insolvency for some nursing funds amid rising care needs and increased wages for nursing staff. Although the Bundestag does not need to approve the rise, it still requires approval from the Bundesrat. Critics argue that this contribution increase will provide only a temporary solution to the underlying financial issues within the nursing sector, underscoring the urgent need for comprehensive reforms.
