Greece Expands Healthcare Access with Free Personal Doctors and Pediatricians
Greece has enacted a new healthcare law providing free personal doctors for all citizens and free pediatricians for over 500,000 children. The initiative, championed by Deputy Health Minister Irini Agapidaki, aims to address the shortage of general practitioners and specialists, incentivizing new doctors with a €40,000 one-time payment for those specializing in Family Medicine and Pathology. The law also promotes telemedicine and preventive care, positioning personal doctors as essential for local healthcare delivery while ensuring that specialized care remains available.
