Greece Plans Strict New Traffic Regulations to Reduce Fatalities

Greece is set to implement a new traffic regulation aimed at lowering speed limits and introducing harsher penalties for traffic violations, following alarming statistics showing 637 traffic fatalities in the past year. The new law, advocated by Deputy Transport Minister Vassilis Economou, includes measures such as a 30 km/h speed limit in cities, license suspensions for minor infractions, and extensive installation of traffic surveillance cameras. The government aims to align with the European Union’s goal of reducing traffic deaths by 50% by 2030.
