Greek Cardiologist Sentenced for Corruption Amid Pandemic Chaos
A cardiologist at AHEPA Hospital in Greece has been sentenced to 18 months in prison with a three-year suspension for demanding a €5,000 bribe for an urgent angioplasty. The doctor, who was accused of taking bribes in 17 similar cases, was apprehended with marked bills. The patient, initially told he had only three days to live, ultimately passed away due to a hip surgery complication, not heart-related issues. The cardiologist’s claim of being set up was dismissed by the court, although he has appealed the ruling.
