Honoring Saints Galaktion and Epistimi: A Legacy of Faith and Sacrifice
On November 5, the memory of Saints Galaktion and Epistimi is celebrated. Living in the 3rd century during Emperor Decius’s reign, their lives were marked by a profound commitment to Christianity. Raised by converted parents, Galaktion married Epistimi, and both dedicated their lives to serving God’s word. When persecution arose, Galaktion entered a monastery, while Epistimi joined a convent. Eventually captured and tortured for their faith, they refused to renounce Christianity and were executed around 250 AD. Their story remains a testament to faith and love amid adversity.
