Human Rights Watch Accuses Israel of War Crimes in Gaza Displacement
A new report from Human Rights Watch describes Israel’s evacuation orders in Gaza as constituting the war crime of forcible transfer and potentially ethnic cleansing. Based on interviews with displaced Gazans and satellite imagery, the 172-page report highlights that 1.9 million Palestinians have been displaced since the war began in October 2023. The findings emphasize systematic efforts to render parts of Gaza uninhabitable, particularly in areas along security corridors, raising significant concerns about adherence to international humanitarian law. Israel, however, defends these actions as necessary for civilian safety.
