Giannis Boutaris, the founder of the environmental organization Arktouros, passed away yesterday at the age of 82. His vision led to the establishment of Arktouros in 1992, inspired by a moment with his son when they saw a dancing bear. Instead of addressing only the immediate crisis of the bear, Boutaris recognized a broader environmental challenge, resulting in over 30 years of impactful conservation efforts. Pano Stefanos, Arktouros’ communications head, paid tribute to Boutaris, highlighting his significant contributions to the environmental sector in Greece.
