Inauguration of Chania’s Cycling Track Set for March 2024
The long-awaited cycling track in Chania, Crete, is nearing completion after remaining dormant for over 20 years. Mayor Panagiotis Simandireakis announced that construction, funded by a €8 million Recovery and Resilience Fund, is on schedule, with official openings and competitions expected by March 2024. The track, designed by international architect Sander Duma, will serve as a significant training hub for athletes from across Europe. Duma emphasized its Olympic-standard quality, asserting that it will require no further interventions for the next 50 years.
