Increase in New Car Registrations in the Netherlands: Hybrids Lead the Market
In 2024, the Netherlands saw a 3.1% increase in new car registrations, totaling 381,227 vehicles. Hybrid cars remained the most popular, with 159,705 units sold, followed by fully electric vehicles at 132,166. The growth is partly attributed to a strong December sales push before the end of subsidies for electric vehicles. Despite the increase in electrically powered cars, petrol vehicles still dominate the market, holding 75.1% of the total registrations, according to BOVAG and RAI Vereniging.
