An inquest has revealed that the car of former England rugby player Tom Voyce was found submerged in 7ft of water after he was swept away while attempting to cross Abberwick Ford during Storm Darragh. The 43-year-old’s body was later recovered from the River Aln as search efforts were conducted following his disappearance. Voyce, who won nine caps for England and made 220 Premiership appearances, was last seen on December 7, 2022. His family has been left in shock as the community mourns his loss.
