The municipal government of Ioannina has submitted an €11 million proposal to the Ministry of Civil Protection for funding flood protection projects following the severe weather disaster in August that declared the municipality in a state of emergency. The plan, detailed by DEYAI President George Papadiotis, includes constructing stormwater drainage systems in flood-prone areas such as Kato Neochoropoulo and New Life. Additionally, road improvements will be made to enhance drainage and mitigate the impact of flooding on residents’ daily lives.
