Iranian Rapper Toomaj Salehi Released After Overturned Death Sentence

Toomaj Salehi, an Iranian rapper sentenced to death for supporting anti-government protests, has been released from prison after serving a year for propaganda against the state. Arrested in October 2022 following the protests triggered by Mahsa Amini’s death, Salehi’s death sentence was annulled in June. His music had previously criticized Iran’s leadership, contributing to his ban from performing prior to his imprisonment.
