Italian police have dismantled a large criminal network involved in forging and selling artworks attributed to renowned artists like Banksy, Andy Warhol, and Pablo Picasso. Over 2,100 forged pieces were seized, with a potential market value of €200 million. Thirty-eight individuals were arrested and six forgery workshops were discovered across Italy and other European locations. Authorities were alerted after seizing around 200 fakes from a businessman in Pisa in 2023. The arrested face serious charges including conspiracy, forgery, and illegal art sales.
