A 32-year-old researcher, Ottavia Piana, was rescued from the Abisso Bueno Fonteno cave in northern Italy after three days of being trapped. She fell in a narrow tunnel while exploring the cave, which is largely unexplored since its discovery in 2006. Over 150 specialized rescuers worked for 75 hours to locate and safely transport her out. Piana, who suffered spinal and facial injuries, stated she will never return to caves, having been rescued from the same location last year as well.
